Jailed model ‘tortured’ by no skin cream, stilettos

A former Playboy Playmate once called ‘Asia’s sexiest supermodel DJ’ says the lack of moisturiser and designer clothing in her prison cell amounts to “torture”.

Angie Vu Ha was detained in a New York City jail in November when she was caught allegedly trying to fly her nine-year-old daughter to China without the knowledge of her estranged partner.

The 32-year-old, who previously appeared in Playboy magazine, said life had changed unimaginably since she entered prison.

“There’s no real mirror in prison,” Ms Vu Ha told New York Daily News.

“We all buy this tiny piece of plastic … but the images are distorted. I wish there should be at least one full-length mirror in here. I haven’t looked at myself for months. It’s cruel.

“This place is so horrible, there’s no sunlight ever. I have been under the harsh light 24/7 and turned pale. I need a good supply of Guerlain’s moisturiser in here.”

We can’t be sure if her demands were genuine or an attempt at humour.

One thing we can be sure of is that the shoes she longs for are indeed torturous.

Being denied access to mirrors and luxury moisturiser were not the only aspects of prison life taking a toll on the Vietnamese model, DJ and producer.

“I miss my Versace dresses and Louboutin heels,” she said.

“My nails are nicely trimmed but I’m dying to have some colours on them. The torture is real.”

Ms Vu Ha is currently being held in Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center, fighting extradition to France to face kidnapping charges after her arrest on November 4, 2015.

She was not granted bail as she waited for the outcome of her legal challenge, as she was seen as a flight risk.

US marshals arrested her as she boarded a flight to China from New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport with her daughter Isabella.

If extradited, the 32-year-old could face up to three years in prison and be banned from seeing her daughter or working with minors, a website campaigning for Ms Vu Ha’s release claimed.

In a lawsuit submitted to Brooklyn’s US Attorney’s office, Ms Vu Ha sought to block extradition alleging Richard Foger, Isabella’s biological father, had won custody of the girl on false claims of the DJ working as a porn star.

Authorities were yet to decide on the case.

Vu Ha ‘still rocking and rolling’

Incarceration in a women’s prison had changed her, Ms Vu Ha said.

“Last year became the dark year of my life. I had abandoned my jobs, my fans and pushed away all other fabulous hungry men and all the young sexy model boys that were chasing me,” she told New York Daily News.

“I’m not supposed to be worried about anything. It gives me wrinkles.”

Ms Vu Ha began modelling at 17, but transitioned into music releasing her first track Cookies in 2011, before her second single Cream in 2012.

She also owns her own modelling agency, Think Model Management, and started Angie Vu Ha Lingerie.

But, if there was one thing the DJ was not, it was ashamed.

“I’m here for a great cause, for protecting my child. This injustice won’t crash my spirit. I’m still rocking and rolling.”
