The man was found away from the scene and was interviewed by detectives for several hours.

He was charged with murder late this afternoon and is due to appear in Ipswich Magistrates Court tomorrow.

Earlier on Monday, Detective Inspector Lew Strohfeldt said police were looking for a weapon in a number of locations.

“It’s believed the deceased has suffered a number of stab wounds, so we are looking for a knife, but we haven’t located one at this point,” he said.

“We believed the incident happened in the early hours of this morning.”

Detective Inspector Strohfeldt urged anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
