Two men police believe may be affiliated with the Apex gang which was involved in a brawl in Melbourne’s CBD have been arrested over car jackings in Melbourne’s south-east.

Victoria Police said an 18-year-old Noble Park man and an 18-year-old Dandenong man were arrested at Heatherton Road in Dandenong just after 2:00pm.

The men are believed to be connected to the Apex gang, police said, which may be behind a spate of recent burglaries, car thefts and armed robberies in Melbourne’s southern suburbs.

One man was injured during the arrest when he was hit by a police car.

He was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The arrests of the two men were in relation to car jackings over the past month, police said.

Apex gang members forced a shutdown of parts of the CBD on Saturday and forced police to use capsicum spray and batons to break up the commotion.

After the violence, Victoria Police Chief Commissioner Graham Ashton said more resources would go into Taskforce Tense to crack down on the group.

Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews on Monday said those involved in the brawl would “feel the full force of the law”.
