Police are hunting for a man who spat on a teenage McDonald’s worker at a Melbourne drive-through after he became impatient and refused to pay for his food.

Victoria Police said in a statement that the saliva went onto the girl’s face, neck and inside her mouth.

They said the man was waiting for his meal at the Essendon fast-food outlet, on Keilor Road, at about 5pm on January 13, 2016, when he became frustrated.

He refused to wait and pay at the first window and drove his black Mercedes to a second window, but was told by staff to return to the first window. He then refused to move his car.

The man then argued with staff members before spitting a large quantity of saliva at a teenage female employee, police said.

The saliva went all over the girl’s face and neck, and also inside her mouth.

The man then fled the restaurant.

Moonee Ponds police are investigating the incident and have released images of a man they would like to speak to.

The vehicle was believed to be a black Mercedes sedan with registration 1FQ 40B.
