The man charged with murdering young Alice Springs-born mother Karlie Pearce-Stevenson has been listed to appear in a Sydney court on Thursday.

The remains of Karlie and her daughter, Khandalyce Kiara Pearce, were uncovered five years, and more than 1000km, apart and linked following DNA tests in October.

Daniel James Holdom, 41, was later charged with the murder of the 20-year-old mother, who died in December 2008 and was buried in NSW’s Belanglo State Forest.

No-one has been charged over the death of Khandalyce.

Police reportedly uncovered the toddler’s birth certificate, allegedly at the home of Holdom’s sister, The Sydney Morning Herald reported.

Khandalyce’s remains were found in a suitcase beside a road in South Australia in July, along with tattered clothing and possessions.

Karlie’s skeletal remains were discovered in a NSW forest in 2010, but police were unable to identify her until they were linked to those of her daughter.

DNA linked the remains of Khandalyce and Karlie in October, five years after the latter’s body was discovered in Belanglo State Forest.

The Advertiser reported earlier this month NSW homicide detectives confirmed they had received information that Karlie had been involved in ferrying illicit substances and was believed to have left Alice Springs with $25,000 intended to buy drugs.

A Crime Stoppers caller claimed Ms Pearce-Stevenson had been doing drug runs between Adelaide and Darwin before her murder.

She took her baby daughter, Khandalyce, with her when she left Alice Springs, according to reports.
