Man ‘makes up’ finger shooting story

A man who told police he’d been shot in the finger after a road rage incident in Sydney’s west has been charged with making the story up.

The 28-year-old claimed he was shot after an argument broke out with two men in a car in Regents Park on Tuesday night.

After making inquiries, officers believe the man fabricated the story after injuring his finger himself.

Police searched the man’s home on Thursday and allegedly found several firearms, ammunition and cash.

The man has been charged with knowingly making a misleading statement, possessing a prohibited weapon without a permit and four other offences.

He has been refused bail and is due to face Burwood Local Court on Friday.
