Woolworths gets laughs for social media gold

Supermarket chain Woolworths has come in for plenty of praise thanks to a social media response that used Eminem for inspiration.

It all began when Facebook user Jamie McGoin contacted the chain on Monday, posting to its wall jokingly about buying spaghetti.

In the post, Mr McGoin referenced Eminem’s hit-song Lose Yourself, which is famous for its reference to the Italian noodle.

While the initial post was humorous, it was no match for the spot on replies that were generated out of the Woolworths’ office

Woolworths certainly needed a social media reputation boost.

Around the 150th Anzac anniversary in April, the chain was widely slammed for a campaign deemed insensitive and exploitative of the commemoration.

The “Lest We Forget Anzac 1915-2015. Fresh in our memories” slogan certainly missed the intended mark for the supermarket giant.
