Gun attack in Tunisia

Two men riding a motorbike have reportedly shot dead a policeman and injured two other officers in an attack on the coastal Tunisian resort city of Sousse.

The identity of the assailants who fired on the three officers was “unknown”, Tunisian secretary of state for national security Rafik Chelly told the media.

A rifle was the weapon used, a police official said.

The nation has struggled to protect its important tourism industry from repeated attacks by Islamic terrorists.

In June, a gunman killed 30 Britons and eight other foreign tourists on a beach in Sousse. The Islamic State group claimed responsibility for the attack.

In March, gunmen killed 21 foreign tourists and a policeman in a museum.

Tunisia has been in a state of emergency since July.
