Man ‘posts $20m of meth to Australia’

A Nigerian-born man has been charged in relation to $20 million worth of methamphetamine, which he allegedly tried to smuggle into Australia in the post.

The unnamed man tried to import a total of 30kg of the illegal drug in 22 boxes across three separate consignments, police claimed.

He was arrested by police on Tuesday after search warrants were executed at residential and business premises in Granville and Paramatta, NSW. He was charged with three drug offences.

“On three separate occasions between June and July this year, the ABF intercepted further consignments, all containing quantities of methamphetamine concealed in items such as dresses and skipping ropes, addressed to the same consignee,” federal police said in a statement.

He appeared in Central Court, Sydney yesterday.
