Some British holidaymakers have refused to flee Tunisia in the wake of a machine gun terror attack that claimed at least 30 of their compatriots.

On Friday, a gunman opened fire at a popular beach resort in Sousse, killing a total of 38 people.

The Daily Mirror has reported that several flights scheduled to return Brits home after the attack were mostly empty.

“Very few seem to have decided to fly home,” a Manchester Airport spokesman told The Mirror.

Instead, many tourists have laid floral wreaths and touching notes on the sand where victims died.

“We’re scared to death but staying,” one British tourist told The Mirror.

“We won’t be beaten.”

The British government has warned that more attacks are possible.

The UK death toll is expected to reach at least 30, after UK Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond warned that it was highly likely a “significant number” of victims would be identified as British.
