‘Shame on you’: Obama shuts down heckler

Barack Obama won’t stand for any nonsense.

One heckler learned this the hard way during a public event at the White House on Wednesday.

President Obama was addressing the crowd as part of LGBT Pride Month when an unintelligible exclamation was made from someone up the back of the room.

Rather than ignoring the heckling, Obama stopped his speech and said: “OK, you know what? No, no, no, no, no…”

“Hey, you know what? You’re in my house,” the president joked, eliciting a laugh from the watching crowd.

When the heckler refused to quit despite boos from the audience, Obama continued his criticism.

“It’s not respectful … you’re not going to get a good response from me by interrupting me like this.

“Shame on you, you shouldn’t be doing this.”

The crowd started to chant Obama’s name before he final asked security to have the man removed from the building.

Before picking up where he left off, the 53-year-old made a joke about the heckler’s lack of manners.

“As a general rule, I am just fine with a few hecklers, but not when I’m up in the House.

“My attitude is, if you’re eating the hors d’oeuvres, know what I’m saying, and drinking the booze… I know that’s right. Anyway, where was I?”

Following the president’s impressive show of composure and assertiveness, one audience member felt the need to express their admiration.

“We love you!” a crowd member could be heard saying, to which Obama responded: “I love you back.”
