Health and wellness blogger Belle Gibson has given her first television interview since revelations she lied about her cancer diagnosis hit the media.

In an interview with 60 Minutes airing this Sunday, the founder and author of The Whole Pantry app, cookbook and community website claims she has been “really transparent” throughout her ordeal.

In the interview, Ms Gibson is asked by host Tara Brown whether she’s “prepared to tell the whole truth”, to which the 23-year-old responds: “Absolutely.”

“I’m not trying to get away with anything,” Ms Gibson adds. “I have been really transparent.”

When Ms Brown questions how the Australian public is expected to trust her again, Ms Gibson says: “Tara, I have lost everything”.

The allegations about Ms Gibson’s lies first came to light in March, when Fairfax Media revealed she had fallen short of financial commitments to several charities.

Ms Gibson was later forced to confess that she had lied about having, and curing, terminal brain cancer after her book and app were pulled from stores.

“No … None of it’s true,” she told the Australian Women’s Weekly in April this year. “I am still jumping between what I think I know and what is reality. I have lived it and I’m not really there yet.”

“I think my life has just got so many complexities around it and within it, that it’s just easier to assume [I’m lying],” she said.

“If I don’t have an answer, then I will sort of theorise it myself and come up with one. I think that’s an easy thing to often revert to if you don’t know what the answer is.”
