‘Hillary Clinton stole our logo’

A hospital sign, the FedEx arrow, a car blinker, something made by a third-grader – these are all the things which have been compared to Hillary Clinton’s candidacy logo.

The former first lady confirmed her second tilt at US presidency in a slickly-produced video on Monday, but unfortunately it’s her logo that’s got everyone talking.

After months of speculation, the former secretary of state and senator proudly declared she would be a “champion for everyday Americans”.

While the announcement was welcomed around the world, her campaign logo was slammed online as something that was made ‘in Microsoft Paint’.

Media organisation WikiLeaks used Twitter to accuse Mrs Clinton of “stealing” their “innovative” logo, even though the two designs only shared a giant red arrow.

Others were equally damning of the logo, saying it looked like a hospital sign, or something that had been made by a third-grader.

This is not the first time Mrs Clinton has run for the presidency – she lost to Democratic Party competitor Barack Obama in the primaries in 2008.

President Obama later made her his secretary of state, America’s equivalent of foreign minister.

Mrs Clinton’s 2008 campaign logo was a more stately giant ‘H’ embellished with America’s famous star-spangled banner, but her 2015 logo is proving far more divisive.

The new logo wasn’t without fans, with one Twitter user saying the arrow logo represented progress.

Her campaign is expected to cost more than $1 billion.
