But while those of us Down Under slowly recovered from the confusion and frustration of April 1, the rest of the world was only just getting started…

Domino’s driverless delivery vehicle

Pizza giant Domino’s claimed to have created the world’s first driverless pizza delivery service, called the “Domi-No-Driver“.

The Domi-No-Driver is a modified motorbike which can carry up to four times the amount of pizza as the previous generation of PDVs (People Driven Vehicles).

The new technology was also said to be fitted out with hunger detection called H.U.N.G.A.R (Hunger Detection and Ranging) to help the robot detect real-time obstacles.

Simon Cowell on English currency

England’s currency is to be radically overhauled to reflect more modern characters in British society, according to The Sun newspaper.

Music mogul Simon Cowell is to appear on the new $5 note, with football icon David Beckham tipped for the $20 note and actress Helen Mirren set to replace Queen Elizabeth II on the $10 note.

The Sun has coined the new term of “lend us a Si-ver” to reflect the changing currency.

Leaning Tower of Pisa hotel

Meanwhile, Italy’s Leaning Tower of Pisa is to be turned into a luxury hotel, said The Daily Telegraph, with tourist visits limited to two hours a day.

The hotel would be called 3.99 degrees, which is the angle the tower slopes at, and beds would be made with legs of varying lengths to combat the lean.

Local tour guide Mia Falova told the broadsheet: “The queues will be extraordinary. They’re taking the Pisa.”

BBC Director of Better

The British Broadcasting Service announced it was looking for a new director to reflect a shift in the organisation’s values, with the idea of “betterness” now at its core.

On Twitter, the BBC said it was looking for a Director of Betterness to “re-set the dial for the Corporation either by shining a new light on that dial or by shining the old light but with a new bulb”.

Applicants need to be passionate listeners and capable of asking the big questions.

Pet selfie sticks

Give your pet the gift they’ve always wanted with the new “dog on a stick” selfie stick, by Petco.

The selfie stick comes with a harness and amazing features like a camera which is activated via “bark” or “meow”.

It’s also compatible with Facetime so you can communicate with your furry friend while you’re away. The pet selfie sticks are only $49.95, and each purchase of a dog selfie stick comes with a free cat selfie stick.

US immigration fist bumps

Scary immigration officials at American airports are damaging the country’s tourism, with tourists rating them as rude and some of the worst in the world, according to a report by The Independent.

In an effort to be more welcoming, America’s tourism authority is working with airports to teach immigration agents to be more friendly, kitting them out in stars and stripes uniforms.

Each incoming passenger will also be given a “Welcome to the USA” fist bump.
