Karma has smacked a would-be Irish car thief in the face after a brick he was wielding rebounded off a window he was attempting to break and struck him in the head.

CCTV footage on YouTube shows the man tempting fate as he repeatedly throws the brick at the window before it strikes him and he falls to the ground.

After hearing strange noises while working at his pub, the owner of the car, Gerry Brady, arrived on the scene to find the man lying in a pool of his own blood and called police.

The unlucky robber tried to tell police that Mr Brady had attacked him, a claim that was quickly shot down when the bemused authorities saw the video.

“You should have heard the garda (Ireland’s police force) laughing when they saw the video. They were in stitches. Credit to them, they were straight out when we called and found the guy within minutes,” Mr Brady told The Irish Independent.

All the belongings from the previous (successful) break-ins were returned.
