The Islamic State group have threatened to execute a Japanese hostage within 24 hours unless Jordan frees a jailed female militant.
In a new video purportedly released by the Islamic State, freelance journalist Kenji Goto appeals for the governments of Japan and Jordan to meet the demands in order to secure his release.

The Islamic State is demanding the release of Sajida al-Rishawi, a militant on death row in Jordan for her role in a 2005 bombing that killed 60 people.
Goto said a Jordanian pilot captured by the Islamic State would also be executed if al-Rishawi wasn’t released.
Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe described the situation as “extremely severe”, with Japan’s state minister for foreign affairs, Yasuhide Nakayama, travelling to Jordan to deal with the crisis.
Fellow Japanese hostage Haruna Yukawa was beheaded last week after Japan declined to pay the Islamic State a $200 million ransom within 72-hours.
