Bushfire in SA’s mid-north under control
A bushfire in South Australia’s mid-north, which has left a farmer with severe burns, has been contained.
The Country Fire Service says the fire at Nantawarra, near Port Wakefield, is no longer threatening lives and homes.
A 35-year-old farmer suffered severe burns in the blaze and was airlifted to Adelaide for treatment.
Two other people, including a CFS firefighter, also suffered burns.
The CFS deployed 55 firefighters to combat the blaze on the ground, including volunteers from three strike teams from other parts of the state.
The fire, which burned through more than 1400 hectares of stubble, was initially travelling towards the towns of Whitwarta, Bowmans and Balaklava.
