From Amazon monkeys to giant rodents, Adelaide Zoo hopes a raft of exotic new arrivals will entice spring crowds.

The zoo has enjoyed a baby boom in recent weeks, welcoming a set of endangered golden lion tamarin twins and a pygmy marmoset, one of the world’s smallest monkeys.

Other new arrivals include five Patagonian maras and two South American capybaras, the world’s largest living rodent.

Zookeeper Mandy Smith says it’s an exciting time for the zoo.

“It’s always lovely to see how each family welcomes and adjusts to life with new infants,” she said.

The zoo is also preparing for the birth of a Sumatran orangutan in the coming weeks.
