Inala siege: gunman shot dead
A gunman shot by specialist police officers during a stand-off in Brisbane’s south has died.
The man had been holed up in his car armed with a gun at Inala since about 12pm (AEST), when officers attended an address in Gannet Street to conduct an enquiry on an unrelated matter.

As officers approached the address, the man brandished a firearm, a police spokesman said.
An emergency declaration was made for the area bounded by Comorant, Clipper, Brolga, Parakeet, Partridge, Wirraway, Kittyhawk streets and Inala Avenue.
Police negotiators had been speaking with the man throughout the afternoon on a telephone they had given him.
Several shots were fired just before 4pm (AEST), with officers dragging the man from the vehicle and detaining him before he died of his injuries.

Inspector Richard Kroon said officers from the Ethical Standards Command were on scene.
“They will complete an investigation and refer the matter to the state coroner,” he said.
“We were hopeful that this would be a peaceful resolution.
“That’s what we always strive to achieve and unfortunately this matter hasn’t turned out that way.”
