Jihadists in Algeria have released a video of the beheading of a 55-year-old Frenchman who was abducted while hiking on Sunday.
Jund al-Khilifa, or “Soldiers of the Caliphate”, posted a video on Wednesday showing the execution of tourist Herve Gourdel, who was kidnapped while hiking in one of Algeria’s national parks.

The video, called “A Message with Blood to the French Government”, is a copy of videos released by ISIS, and is believed to be a response to the French Government’s refusal to halt air raids in Iraq.
French President Francois Hollande, in New York for the UN General Assembly, confirmed the beheading and said France would not give in to blackmail.
“The fight against terrorism must continue and be stepped up,” Mr Hollande said.
