Superintendent Paul Fehon said police were not ruling out the possibility of “human intervention” in William’s disappearance, despite having no new leads.

“Human intervention can include a number of things,” Mr Fehon told reporters. “But at this stage we have a young person that was seen at the house where he was playing and we have no indication of where William has been since that time.”

Mr Fehon refused to elaborate on reports that local service station owners had reported an individual asking for directions to the specific street where William disappeared last week.

“We’ve been grateful for all the information that has been provided to us at this specific point in time … we need to substantiate or discount that information,” Mr Fehon said.

According to the superintendent, the number of volunteers involved in the search has decreased over time, but amount of police resources remain the same.
