Surprise! Abbott gives straight As to his team
The exam results are in and everyone is getting an A or an A-plus.
That’s the verdict from Prime Minister Tony Abbott after conducting performance reviews of his ministerial team.

After the September election, Mr Abbott issued “charter letters” to his new frontbench members.
The charter letters set out the government’s commitments and priorities and the list of tasks each minister needs to achieve over the first 100 days, each year and the three-year term.

Mr Abbott has sat down with most of his team after the first year in government to assess their performance against the charter letters.
“I think some are getting As and some are getting A-pluses,” he said.
“It’s a perfectly normal dimension to management that you from time to time review progress with your senior personnel.”
The reviews are expected to be held annually.
There is speculation Mr Abbott may reshuffle his frontbench towards the end of 2014, with the possibility of stood-aside assistant treasurer Arthur Sinodinos not returning to the ministry.
Senator Sinodinos, the former NSW Liberal Party treasurer, appeared before the Independent Commission Against Corruption in April to discuss his involvement in Australian Water Holdings (AWH) where he was a director and chairman.
ICAC was looking into allegations that between 2004 and 2012, AWH falsely billed Sydney Water for expenses on an infrastructure project and used the money for executive salaries and political donations. AAP
