Sarah Palin’s daughter has a strong right hook and isn’t shy about using it, if witness reports of a drunken Palin family brawl are to be believed.

Bristol Palin, the eldest daughter of Alaska’s most famous governor, was one of several Palin clan members reportedly involved in a furious, alcohol-fuelled fist fight at a weekend party in Anchorage, Alaska.

The famous brood were at the September 6 gathering of about 70 people to celebrate the state’s Iron Dog snowmobile race, which Palin’s husband, Todd, has won several times.

The event also marked Todd’s 50th birthday.

The brawl reportedly began when Track Palin, the couple’s 25-year-old son, traded blows with the former boyfriend of his younger sister Willow, 20.

Track had reportedly come into contact with Willow’s ex out the front of the house after he arrived at the party in his stretch Hummer.

The situation escalated quickly, and witnesses reported that both families got in on the action.

One alleged attendee, Eric Thompson, told ABC News that Bristol, 23, repeatedly swung at another man.

“She was punching him in the face like six times. It was an assault if I’ve ever seen one,” Thompson said of the melee.

“It wasn’t a light punch, either. She was really hitting him. I’m surprised he just sat there and took it.”

Thompson said when the Palin family were asked to leave, the 2008 Republican vice-presidential nominee screamed, “Don’t you know who I am?”

“All of us could not believe it. We thought we were watching an episode of Jerry Springer,” he said.

Alaska politics blogger Amanda Coyne gave a colourful account of what police described as a “verbal and physical altercation”.

“The owner of the house gets involved, and he probably wished he hadn’t,” Coyne wrote.

“At this point, he’s up against nearly the whole Palin tribe: Palin women screaming, Palin men thumping their chests.

“Word is that (daughter) Bristol has a particularly strong right hook, which she employed repeatedly.”

Track was later seen with his shirt off while Todd attended to a bloody nose.

Alaskan authorities are considering filing criminal charges in relation to the incident, which a police spokeswoman said involved about 20 people.

She confirmed some members of the Palin family were present.
