The Coalition continues to fall short of its election-time primary vote of 45.6 per cent last September, slipping to 39 per cent.
This is down from a primary vote of 40 per cent in August.
Labor has sustained its lead on a two-party-preferred basis, 52-48, while Prime Minister Tony Abbott and Opposition Leader Bill Shorten are tied as preferred leader.
The Newspoll survey also shows overwhelming support for Australia providing humanitarian aid and weapons to Kurdish Peshmerga forces opposing ISIS.
Sixty-two per cent of respondents said they were in favour, while only 25 per cent were against Australia’s involvement. Thirteen per cent are undecided.
