Qantas flight forced to turn back

A Qantas flight has been forced to turn back to Los Angeles after a drinking water pipe burst, flooding parts of the aisle.

The plane was an hour into the flight from LA to Melbourne when it turned around.

Qantas says passengers were moved from the affected area and given spare blankets to stay dry.

The airline says it the burst pipe was not a risk to the flight’s safety.

Actress Yvette Nicole Brown, best known for her work on US comedy series Community was on board the flight and tweeted soon after the plane landed in Los Angeles.

Qantas responded to her tweet saying: there were no safety concerns and the captain had returned to Los Angeles “in the interests of passenger comfort”.

Brown is due to make an appearance at Melbourne’s ComicCon on Saturday.

The Qantas Airbus is being fixed in the United States.

More to come.
