Labor’s candidate for the Victorian seat of Frankston has quit after details emerged of a bullying allegation against her.

Lawyer Helen Constas was the subject of a bullying complaint when she was the chief executive at the Peninsula Community Legal Centre in Frankston, according to court documents published by News Corp Australia.

Ms Constas, who was to represent Labor in the November state election, announced she would step down hours after the details of the complaint were aired on Thursday.

She said the matter was fully investigated and considered by the Peninsula Community Legal Centre and was the subject of a confidentiality agreement.

She said this “severely constrained” what she could say.

“This makes it very difficult to actively defend my reputation,” Ms Constas told reporters on Thursday.
