AFL star Lance “Buddy” Franklin says he is truly sorry for crashing into five parked cars and has denied he was texting or speeding.

The Sydney Swans’ $10 million recruit said he didn’t see cars on the left-hand side of the road as he was heading west along New South Head Road in Rose Bay in his girlfriend’s Jeep 4WD on Wednesday evening.

“It was just an accident and accidents do happen and that’s pretty much it,” he told reporters at training on Thursday morning.

“I truly am sorry for the inconvenience I’ve caused to the other people’s car (sic) and I’m deeply sorry for that.”

Police breath-tested Franklin and he was found to be under the limit.

The Swan’s star said he was frustrated at himself for again making headlines for the wrong reasons.

“I just want to move forward as quickly as possible and get on to this week’s game,” he said.

The last thing on his mind, he said, was how girlfriend Jesinta Campbell, who’s a brand ambassador for Jeep, felt about him crashing her car.

According to a Fairfax report, Jeep Australia is considering cancelling its contract with Campbell after the crash.

The Jeep had been loaned to Campbell.

Fiat Chrysler Group Australia spokeswoman told Fairfax the brand is reconsidering its relationship  with Campbell because of the negative publicity.

“It’s probably a bit early to tell whether the incident will affect Jesinta’s contract. We’re still waiting for the police to finalise their investigation,” said the spokeswoman.

Franklin said he’s pleased there were no injures and says he will be contacting the car owners soon.

“We’ll get them fixed up as soon as possible and move on,” he said.

Swans coach John Longmire said the club had spoken to Franklin.

“The police spoke to him for half an hour after the incident and they’re satisfied with what Lance said as well. So we’ll get into football mode,” he said.

Franklin was issued a fine and investigations are continuing, police told AAP on Thursday.

Earlier this year, Franklin’s luxury Mercedes was involved in a car accident.

Franklin relocated from the Hawthorn Hawks this season after signing a deal worth $10 million with the Swans last October.

Local resident Craig McDonald was quick to post a picture of the accident on Twitter.

Mr McDonald tweeted: “Buddy Franklin has just totalled three parked cars on New South Head road outside my place.”
