AustralianSuper CEO Ian Silk will take over as president of the Australian Council of Superannuation Investors, replacing the current incumbent Gerrard Noonan, chair of Media Super.

Antony Thow, chief operating officer at industry fund LUCRF will take over as deputy president, replacing Trish Donohue, investment services chief with Cbus.

Both appointments will commence in August and both are currently ACSI board members.

“We are delighted to have Ian and Antony take on these key roles for ACSI. Both of them have demonstrated a strong commitment to the work we do in seeking to improve the environmental, social and governance performance of listed companies,” Louise Davidson, ACSI CEO, said.

Ms Davidson also thanked Mr Noonan and Ms Donohue.  “As President, Gerard has been a passionate champion of the role of superannuation funds as active owners of the companies in which they invest.”

Mr Noonan said “I’d also like to acknowledge the work of Trish Donohue as Vice President – she has chaired our Finance and Risk committee for the past six years with diligence, flair and common sense,” Mr Noonan said.

AustralianSuper CEO Ian Silk said he was pleased to boost his role within ACSI “which has played such key role in lifting ESG issues to being increasingly the key topics for discussion between investors and the boards and top executives at listed companies.”

“Building retirement savings pools for members requires strong returns over decades, not just years, putting ESG issues – including strong corporate governance, climate change, other environmental issues, health and safety, and labour rights in the supply chain – as key determinants of the future operating environment,” Mr Silk said.
