More post-Xmas sales to come
Bargain hunters are tipped to be out in force this weekend with retailers hoping to rake in billions of dollars in post-Christmas sales.
Australians are expected to spend more than $16 billion over the next three weeks after an impressive showing on Boxing Day.
• Boxing Day sales likely to top $2 billion
• Post-Christmas sales a bumper for retailers
Myer boss Bernie Brookes said crowd numbers outside his stores so far have been “significantly” higher than in 2013.
David Jones also has reported a jump.
The post-Christmas spending spree comes despite many retailers having kicked off their stocktake sales online on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
