The internet has gone off at a man who secretly tested his wife’s urine in order to surprise her with her own pregnancy.

Saying he wanted to be the one who announced the pregnancy “this time”, Sam, of family YouTube channel Sam and Nia, divulged the news in a breakfast announcement.

In the video, which has accrued 10 million views, Sam described how Nia was two weeks late on her period, and that he was suspicious she had fallen pregnant with their third child.

Secretly taking a dropper of urine from the toilet after Nia went during the night, Sam celebrated by himself in the bathroom when the pregnancy test was revealed as positive.

Seeming astonished and elated, Sam took the video camera into the kitchen as Nia and their two young children were eating breakfast.

“Are you getting wine, honey?” he asked his confused wife.

“Why don’t you make a boloney sandwich? Oh that’s right, you can’t eat boloney.”

A slightly annoyed and bemused Nia asked Sam what he was talking about, saying: “I haven’t even taken a pregnancy test.”

At that point, Sam ran into the bathroom, grabbed the positive test and asked Nia to bring it out of his pocket.

“Are you serious right now!?” was the reaction from Nia, who seemed shocked and delighted.

The couple then explained what was going on to their two other children, who in between mouthfuls of egg agreed that it was good news.

The internet couldn’t decide what it thought of the unconventional announcement, with some calling the move “creepy”.

Much of the debate focused on whether the video was a set-up, commenters pointing out that the urine would have been diluted, and noting Nia’s lack of genuine shock.

Tragically, in a video update the next day Sam and Nia revealed they had miscarried.
