Tiger Woods opens up about his failed marriage

Tiger Woods has opened up about his relationship with ex-wife Elin Nordegren in an interview with Time magazine.

In the interview, the star golfer talks about how his marital infidelity and a lack of communication ruined his six-year marriage.

“In hindsight, it’s not how I would change 2009 and how it all came about. It would be having a more open, honest relationship with my ex-wife,” Woods said when asked what he would change.

“Our frustrations would have come out if we had talked about it and been open and honest with each other.”

Nordegren allegedly chased her husband out of their mansion with a golf club in 2009 after discovering his serial philandering.

As more porn stars, strippers, escorts and mistresses involved with Woods came forward to tell their stories, he entered rehab for sex addiction.

The couple’s divorce was finalised in 2010.

“It was too tough, too tough,” he said.

“But now, in hindsight, as years and years have gone by, we’re like the best friends.”

Woods and Nordegren have two children together, aged eight and six. He says he has attempted to gently explain the situation to them.

“I’ve taken the initiative with the kids, and told them upfront, ‘Guys, the reason why we’re not in the same house, why we don’t live under the same roof, Mommy and Daddy, is because Daddy made some mistakes’,” he added.

“I just want them to understand before they get to internet age and they log on to something or have their friends tell them something.”

The interview also covers Woods’ golf career, currently in decline because of back injuries, and the end of his long-distance relationship with skier Lindsey Vonn.
