Internet users be warned – if your password is on this list you might want to log on and make a new one.

SplashData has published its annual report of the internet’s most popular passwords, based on the millions of stolen combinations released to the public every year.

While there are plenty of basic, predictable entries in the top 25, there are also bizarre additions that display a very low level of creativity.

For example, “batman” is a new addition to the list at number 25, while sport lovers have contributed “baseball” and “football” numbers eight and 10 respectively.

Fellow superhero “superman” also makes the list while less imaginative entries like “123456” and “password” take top spots.

“Passwords based on simple patterns on your keyboard remain popular despite how weak they are,” said CEO of SplashData, Morgan Slain.

“Any password using numbers alone should be avoided, especially sequences. As more websites require stronger passwords or combinations of letters and numbers, longer keyboard patterns are becoming common passwords, and they are still not secure.”

He also warns favourite sports, common names and birth years should be avoided. Number and letter sequences should never be used.
