‘Fried rat’ is just strange looking chicken, KFC says

Fast-food giant Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) is denying claims that a Californian man was served a fried rat inside his take-away meal.

On discovering the rodent shaped piece of chicken, Devorise Dixon, 25, posted on Facebook saying he ordered a meal of chicken tenders to find one looking like a dead rat covered in the Colonel’s secret herbs and spices.

But KFC hit back this week and released a statement saying there was no evidence to prove they served a rat.

“Our chicken tenders often vary in size and shape, and we currently have no evidence to support this allegation,” the statement said.

“KFC has made various attempts to contact this customer, but he is refusing to talk to us directly or through our attorney.”

The take-away giant also released a photo of the backside of the same piece of chicken, pointing to where a bite had been taken out, saying it was clearly ‘100 per cent white meat chicken’.

In a subsequent post, Mr Devorise claimed the manager had admitted it was a rat, but KFC said that was not true.

Mr Devorise uploaded several pictures and a video of the supposed rodent on Facebook, before sealing it in a bag and putting it in the freezer, he wrote.

Alongside pictures of a rat-shaped tender, he wrote: “As I bit into it I noticed that it was very hard and rubbery which made me look at it”.

“As I looked down at it I noticed that it was in a shape of a rat with a tail.

“It sent deep chills throughout my whole body. I’ve been feeling weird ever since. It’s time for a lawyer, be safe don’t eat fast food.”

Mr Devorise said when he returned to the store with the piece of chicken, the manger apologised an offered him a free meal, CNN reported.

Several social media users suggested it may have been a piece of chicken shaped like a rat.

“Look at it carefully. It looks like there’s white chicken breast below the breading,” one person wrote.

“The tail thing could just be a piece of chicken skin. This actually looks really good. Tell him to cut it open… Why doesn’t anyone doubt this?”

KFC bosses told the Mirror that an investigation found no evidence to support this claim, however they did not confirm what the food was made of.
