The secret to a long life? Avoiding men
STV News.
Ladies, don’t bother with dating, relationships and looking for love – you can live to 109 if you steer clear of men.
Scotland’s oldest living woman, 109-year-old Jessie Gallan, has revealed staying single has helped her live a long and healthy life.

“My secret to a long life has been staying away from men,” Ms Gallan told The Daily Mail.
“They’re just more trouble than they’re worth.”
She also suggested eating a bowl of porridge every morning to boost your longevity.
“I also made sure that I got plenty of exercise, ate a nice warm bowl of porridge every morning and have never gotten married.”
In truth, it doesn’t seem like the busy and hard working centenarian really had any time for dating.
Ms Gallan left home at the tender age of 13 to be a milkmaid after growing up in a small two-room farm cottage where she slept “top-to-tail” with her five sisters and one brother.
After her job as a milkmaid, the Scot went on to work as a farm kitchen hand before a stint in a hotel, where she was visited by the Queen and the Queen Mother.
Miss Gallan now lives in a care home in Aberdeen in Scotland’s North where she can enjoy her retirement in peace, without those pesky males.
