Budget airline offers $13 flights

Low-cost airline Tigerair is confident its booking system will cope with a flood of traffic when a four-hour Halloween sale offering $13 fares kicks off on Friday afternoon.

Travellers will be able to bag flights on a variety of routes, including Adelaide-Sydney, Adelaide-Melbourne, Sydney-Gold Coast, Sydney-Whitsundays and Brisbane-Cairns, but will have to fly in June next year.

A 24-hour flash sale by Jetstar on Tuesday saw the carrier’s website crash after $88 fares to Bali went on sale, leaving many people fuming at not being able to purchase tickets.

Tigerair Australia Head of Communications Vanessa Regan told News Corp said they were confident the Tigerair website could handle a flood of interest, despite a $10 sale last April sending the website into meltdown.

Sounds too good to be true? Ms Regan said the only trick to the $13 Halloween sale treat was a $8.50 booking fee.
