Which city has Australia’s best hotels?

If there was any doubt Adelaide is having its moment in the limelight, a new survey has rated its hotels better than any other capital city.

Booking website Wotif.com has tallied its hotel review scores putting Adelaide at the top with an average score of 4.13 out of 5.

Adelaide was rated in Lonely Planet’s world top 10 cities to visit this year and has been the subject of international praise, particularly in relation to its cultural events, burgeoning small bar culture and the redeveloped Adelaide Oval.

The city is so good that last year, New York Mag recommended visiting Adelaide instead of Sydney.

Wotif.com product director Donna Rodios said Adelaide narrowly pipped Hobart at the post to rank number one.

Accommodation in Darwin and Sydney rated the lowest of all the capitals.

“Adelaide has come out on top, with the highest score of any state capital and has been rated higher by couples than any other traveller type,” Ms Rodios said.

“Proving it’s not only a great travel destination but that it also ticks all of the boxes, it’s no wonder Adelaide was named one of the world’s top 10 cities to visit this year.”

Ms Rodios said Adelaide had been rated highest by couples.
