Hours after the news she and husband Kanye West are expecting their third baby, reality TV star Kim Kardashian West hit the Tom Ford Show at New York Fashion Week.

The mother-to-be, 36, made a splash at the stylish event with new silver-white hair (which, as she wrote on her website and app, she is “LOVING”) and a strapless body-con latex dress.

Later in the night, Kardashian West kept up her hectic schedule, fronting for the Vivienne Westwood x Juergen Teller exhibition opening in a double-breasted blazer mini, the hair chopped into a lob.

Yes, latex, tricky hair and a packed diary.

This time around with the baby, Kardashian West isn’t opening herself up to either cruel memes – expecting first child, daughter North, now aged four, she was compared to a killer whale – or indeed the condition she’s repeatedly said she “hates”, pregnancy.

On Thursday, she and rapper West, 40, confirmed that the surrogate they hired in June is pregnant.

Various outlets including TMZ and Us Weekly reported the baby is a girl, due in January.

Whatever the truth, the Wests – who, as they told Harper’s Bazaar, have a chef come over daily to cook breakfast, lunch and dinner, plus a nutritionist who changes their diet every 10 days – are taking no chances on the outcome of the pregnancy.

Kardashian West is “providing an ideal eating regimen and diet” to the surrogate, a source told People magazine, “so everyone knows what the baby is consuming before it’s born.”

The goal? “They want everything to be perfect and for the baby to be extremely healthy.”

In line with their attention to detail, Kardashian West had spent months searching for a surrogate before she found the “perfect candidate”, said the source.

She hired a surrogacy agency after being freaked out by previous health scares, and briefed staff to find “a healthy woman who would be a great surrogate option for her and Kanye”.

“Both of them have been super involved in the process.”

Having North and son Saint, aged one, Kardashian West suffered a condition called placenta accreta, which sees the placenta adhere to the lining of the uterus and increases the risk of heavy bleeding during delivery.

Kim’s most painful experience

During her first delivery, blogged Kardashian West, her doctor had to manually detach the placenta: “It was the most painful experience of my life!

“I just had to deal.”

The potentially life-threatening ordeal was so frightening she told a friend she was “never going to let herself get pregnant again” but missed having a baby in the family’s Los Angeles house.

But based on past tell-alls, the star – who famously charts her baby weight losses and exercise regimens for her 100 million social media followers – won’t miss pregnancy.

In 2015, expecting Saint, she bemoaned her weight gain and told E! she finds it all “awful”, adding, “You know, pregnancy is not for me.”

In October that year, she blogged having a baby is “the worst experience of my life. I don’t enjoy one minute of it and I don’t understand people who enjoy it”.

“I feel insecure and most of the time I just feel gross.”

She’s happier now, thanks to the successful surrogacy. Said the People source: “The family is over the moon.”
