Model Bella Hadid has been skinny-shamed after landing a major contract with sportswear giant Nike.
“I am OFFICIALLY PART OF THE @NIKE FAMILY! More coming very soon,” Hadid, 20, announced on Instagram.
But it didn’t take long for social media users to lash out at the choice of the model, with Olympic skating champion Meryl Davis leading the charge.

Many criticised the choice of Hadid, considering her unsuitable to represent a fitness brand.
“Yeh this is why young girls get eating disorders, when being abnormally thin is glorified,” wrote one user. “Well done @nike.”
Others were equally miffed and turned off the brand by the choice of a Victoria’s Secret model as a Nike ambassador.

Others hit out at the online response as a manifestation of body shaming.
I don't care who models for @Nike, but I do care about people being shamed for the way they look. @bellahadid #loveyourself
