Chris Hemsworth has shot down rumours he and wife Elsa Pataky are separating, with a tongue-in-cheek Instagram post.

Hemsworth addressed speculation his Spanish-born partner of six years were on the rocks by sharing a snap of the pair with his 7.3 million followers on Monday.

“Looking for a new wife according to @womansdayaus and other misleading outlets!” he captioned the photo of himself looking out to sea while on a boat next to Pataky.

“Honey you still love me right?!” Hemsworth added, with the hashtag, “#thanksfortheheadsup”.

On Monday, Woman’s Day ran an article saying the Byron Bay-based couple was “almost living separate lives”.

“They’ve decided they need space, and they’ve been taking a little break from each other,” a source identified as a “close friend” told Woman’s Day.

“Hopefully it will be a case of absence makes the heart grow fonder, but they definitely appear to have some issues that need to be sorted out. It has raised a few eyebrows among their friends.”

Hemsworth, 33, and Pataky, 40, are parents to four-year-old daughter India Rose and two-year-old twins son Sasha and Tristan.

They married in 2010, mere months after meeting.

“There was no great plan to any of it to be honest, we were on holiday and we said ‘why don’t we get married too?’ and then the next minute…” Hemsworth has said of their swift union.
