Update: Troubled singer Chris Brown has been arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon after a nine-hour standoff with police.

Brown denied any wrongdoing before he was taken into custody for allegedly pointing a gun at a beauty queen.

“He is being transported to robbery homicide, where he will be arrested for assault with a deadly weapon,” Lieutenant Chris Ramirez of the Los Angeles Police Department told reporters at an impromptu media conference outside Brown’s home.

Miss California Regional 2016, Baylee Curran, accused Brown, 27, of threatening her with a gun following what she has described as an alcohol and drug-fuelled party.

Speaking to Melbourne radio station Kiss 101.1, the aspiring actress said the incident occurred after she touched his diamond cross necklace.

“So I came in from the backyard and there was a man showcasing the jewellery and that’s when I was admiring one piece, it was a diamond cross necklace,” Curran said.

“That’s when Chris’ friend, or I don’t know who he was to Chris, noticed that I was looking at it, and warned me to step away, ‘don’t touch the diamonds, get the **** outside’, started kinda nudging me in the shoulder to get back outside, and then that’s when Chris pulled a gun and said, ‘get the **** out. Like, I’ve had enough of you girls, haven’t I told you girls enough’, and then that’s when I left.”

Ms Curran told TMZ her and a friend had been using Brown’s hot tub before heading back inside the LA mansion.

The beauty queen said Brown appeared to be “on drugs or alcohol”, before being asked to sign a non-disclosure agreement before leaving.

She refused and called 911 at 3am on Tuesday.

And while police waited for a search warrant, Brown reported threw a duffel bag containing at least one gun, other weapons and drugs from his window and shouted to cops “come and get me”, TMZ reported.

Los Angeles police confirmed at a press conference Brown surrendered at about 1pm local time, and was assisting in the investigation.

Brown posted a series of videos on Instagram during the stand off, claiming he has done nothing wrong and taunting police.

“I don’t care. Y’all gonna stop playing with me like I’m the villain out here, like I’m going crazy,” a visibly angry Brown said.

“When you get the warrant for whatever you need to do, you’re going to walk right up in here and you’re going to see nothing, you idiots.”

The R&B singer has had years of run-ins with the law.

Most notoriously, he was convicted of beating then-girlfriend Rihanna before the 2009 Grammy Awards, forcing the pop singer to miss the music industry’s annual gala.

In 2014, he pleaded guilty to assaulting a man outside a Washington hotel and earlier this year was accused of battery by a woman in Las Vegas.

He was accused last year of fraud in the Philippines for failing to perform a concert, also leading the singer to voice anger on Instagram while he waited to leave the country.
