Amber Heard has settled her divorce case with Johnny Depp, after allegations of physical abuse by the film star were dropped.

In a joint statement released to the Daily Mail Online, the pair said their relationship was “intensely passionate and at times volatile, but always bound by love”.

Evidence of that volatility was in evidence earlier in the messy case, with the emergence of damning videos and photos, allegedly captured during the couple’s 15-month marriage.

However, Amber Heard now says she wishes the best for Johnny in the future. She will be donating financial proceeds from the divorce to charity.

Last week, footage of a ranting, angry Depp leaked online and on Monday gruesome photos of the actor’s bloody finger, which he allegedly sliced open during a drug-fuelled rampage, surfaced on TMZ

Heard filed for divorce in May this year citing irreconcilable differences and was granted a temporary domestic violence restraining order against her husband.

On Saturday, the 30-year-old actress reportedly faced seven hours of questioning from Depp’s legal team over allegations he physically abused her throughout their marriage, which Depp categorically denies.

Under California law, Heard – who withdrew her request for $50,000 spousal support a month after she claimed it was “being used against me” – is entitled to half of Depp’s fortune, which is estimated at around $US400 million.

Gruesome photos

On Monday, American gossip site TMZ claimed it had obtained photos from Heard and her team depicting the aftermath of one of Depp’s jealous rampages during his time filming the fifth Pirates of the Caribbean movie in Australia.

The photos show a bloodied finger, allegedly belonging to Depp, and a mirror covered in black paint.

According to TMZ, the images were taken after Depp, who was allegedly drunk and high on ecstasy, accused Heard of sleeping with her co-star Billy Bob Thornton and went on a rampage, smashing bottles and windows.

Heard claimed Depp cut his finger and then dipped it in paint to write ‘Easy Amber’ and ‘Billy Bob’ on the mirror.

Depp has not responded to the allegations or images, which were an exhibit in Heard’s domestic violence case against him, but a recent photo showed him with a large scar on his middle right finger.

In March last year, filming for the next Pirates film on the Gold Coast was put on hold while Depp recovered from hand surgery, although it is unclear whether the two incidents were connected.

The violent video

Earlier, TMZ also obtained video footage captured by Heard in the couple’s home of Depp slamming cupboard doors, yelling and smashing a wine glass.

“You want crazy? I’ll give you crazy,” the father of two can be heard saying in the video, before realising he was being filmed and knocking the recording device to the ground.

“I am not responsible for the release of the video,” Heard said in a statement to E! News.

“It was not what I wanted and I am doing what I can to force the media to take it off the internet.

“I underestimated the toll that this difficult few months have taken on me, emotionally and physically, and the efforts made by the media to intimidate and discredit me.

“It is for that reason, and my desire to make the healthiest choice for myself, and hopefully for Johnny, that I am attempting to resolve this matter in the most private way possible.”
