Belgian action star Jean Claude Van Damme has had an on-camera meltdown during a recent round of Australian interviews promoting his upcoming speaking tour.

Speaking to Channel Seven’s Sunrise via video link from Bangkok on Thursday, Van Damme complained about the camera crew and the interview questions before storming out.

The 55-year-old initially took issue with a group of people talking to each other behind the cameras during his interview.

“Guys you are talking behind the cameras, this is a direct line ok?,” Van Damme said, before turning to the camera to seemingly address the Australian people directly.

“I’m online talking to you and I have people behind the camera talking about … because I’m sweating and everything.”

Van Damme complained that he wanted to be “as natural as possible” and hoped to talk to the Australian people directly rather than answer “boring” questions about starring alongside Kylie Minogue in the 1994 film Street Fighter.

“Yeah, I like Kylie, I like everybody — can I please come to Australia and talk to you?” Van Damme said, clearly frustrated.

“Sorry guys, I cannot do this anymore. You are talking to a guy who’s very rough, you know?

“Those questions, the press have been asking me the same questions for the past 25 years – Kylie, how’s your training, how’s your this, how’s your that. I’m coming to Australia to maybe do something different with the audience. I’m 55 years old … I’ve got a different POV of life.”

Van Damme added that the questions he was asked made him feel anxious.

“Those interviews you are giving me on TV right now are very boring because the questions are boring. It’s difficult for me to answer those questions so I start to sweat. I don’t feel good. They are boring and I knew this.”

Van Damme attempted to continue the interview before giving up and walking out.

“Okay, next question? You have something interesting to ask me?” he asked.

“Okay I’ve got to go to the restroom, bye bye,” he said, removing his microphone and standing up from his chair.

“Don’t shoot, cut,” he demanded, adding, “What the f**k is going on in Australia?”

“I can’t do this, I’m too natural,” Van Damme said at the conclusion of his rant.

The martial arts pro will have his chance to speak directly to the Australian public when he visits in August for a speaking tour, aptly named An Evening with Jean Claude Van Damme – Unplugged and Unscripted.
