Taylor Swift tops celebrity income list

Taylor Swift earned $225 million over the past year making her the world’s highest-earning celebrity, according to FORBES Celebrity 100 list out today.

Swift’s mega pay cheque comes after payday comes courtesy of her massive 1989 World Tour by grossing $265 million on the North American leg of her tour, which ultimately grossed around $330 million in total.

Forbes noted that  Swift’s boosts her income by endorsing multinationals such as Diet Coke, Keds and Apple.

But the pop diva’s income pales in comparison wot last year’s top-earner, boxer Floyd Mayweather, who raked in almost $400 million in 2015 after his fight with Manny Pacquiao, but easily wins the battle of musicians. Last year’s highest-earning muso, Katy Perry, who took home $179 million.

She also smashed the likes of Adele at No. 9 with $105 million, Madonna at $101 million and Rihanna who earned $99 million.

Forbes reported Swift’s 2016 pay cheque is by far the highest total of her career, more than doubling last year’s $106 million, her previous best.

Had Swift stuck with ex-boyfriend Calvin Harris, who earned $84 million, they would have been last year’s top-earning Celebrity 100 couple, more than doubling Beyonce and Jay Z’s $142 million.
