Daddy Cool guitarist Ross Hannaford has died at the age of 65 after a battle with cancer.

Affectionately known as ‘Hanna’, the talented musician released his latest solo album Hanna in December last year.

Along with vocalist Ross Wilson, Hannaford started a band known at the Pink Finks in Melbourne in 1965.

They eventually evolved into Daddy Cool and were joined by bassist Wayne Duncan and drummer Gary Young.

Daddy Cool’s first album Daddy Who? Daddy Cool was released in 1971 and featured two of their greatest hits, Eagle Rock and Come Back Again.

In mid-2015 Hannaford’s friends organised a ‘Hanna’ benefit concert after learning of his cancer diagnosis.

Hannaford didn’t let his illness stop him from playing music, performing in front of a full house at a Melbourne showcase as recently as December last year.
