One Tweet boosts Oprah’s fortune by $17million

While many of us toil away in offices, it only took one Tweet for Oprah Winfrey to increase her personal fortune by AUD$17million on Wednesday.

Winfrey, who owns shares in weight loss company Weight Watchers, posted a video on Twitter with the title “Eat bread. Lose weight. Whaattt?”

In the 30-second video spot, Winfrey told how she has lost 11 kilos while still allowing herself to eat bread every day.

“This is the joy for me. I love bread. I love bread,” announced the famously-passionate TV personality.

“Now I just manage it. I don’t deny myself bread.”

The carb-loving television host may be stoked with her personal weight loss, but that was nothing compared with the gains the short video earned her personal fortune.

According to Market Watch, Winfrey owns around six million shares in Weight Watchers, and just hours after she posted the joyful Tweet, those shares had risen in value by $2 per share.

That’s a AUD$17million profit in just one hour – enough to buy a car for everyone on her next show.
