Audience members have walked out of a screening of Daniel Radcliffe’s new movie in which he plays a corpse with an ever-lasting erection and a flatulence problem.

Swiss Army Man was shown for the first time at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah last week and the packed screening was substantially depleted after several people “bolted for the door”.

The film tells the tale of a man lost in the wilderness (Paul Dano) who befriends a farting corpse (Daniel Radcliffe), sharing existential conversations and even a kiss with his lifeless body.

In a daring departure for the former child star, Radcliffe’s character also maintains an erection throughout the entire film.

Variety has described the film as “Cast Away meets Weekend at Bernie’s, as directed by Michel Gondry”.

The men behind the film, writers and directors Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, have admitted the plot was inspired by “a fart joke”.

While some were unimpressed, other audience members have praised the film on Twitter for being “unique and bizarre”.
