All four members of Swedish supergroup ABBA have come together for the first time in seven years.

Celebrating founding member Bjorn Ulvaeus’ new business venture – a Greek-themed ABBA restaurant in Stockholm – Agnetha Fältskog, Benny Andersson and Anni-Frid Lyngstad surprised fans with a rare red carpet appearance.

It was the first time the band had appeared all together since they walked the red carpet at the premiere of Mamma Mia, the movie-musical based on ABBA’s songs, in 2008.

Although the foursome chose to walk the red carpet separately, ABBA fans were elated at the rare sighting.

The site reported fans paid AUD$170 for tickets to the opening night of ‘Mamma Mia: The Party’, where they sat and enjoyed dinner and a performance.

“Everything happens on a magical evening in several acts filled with singing and dancing, daredevil stunts, Greek Gods, flirty waiters, and perhaps a zorba and an ouzo or two,” describes the venue’s website of the night.

One fan told Swedish site thelocal that seeing the stars together was “A dream come true that no one believed would happen.”

ABBA topped the pop music charts from 1975 to 1982, after becoming the first Swedes to win song competition Eurovision in 1974.

Selling around 300million albums over its career, ABBA is the second-best selling group of all time, after The Beatles.
