Ellen Degeneres and Portia de Rossi have adopted a ‘Kid’ – a puppy named Kid.
DeGeneres announced the big news to her devoted talk show audience on Wednesday.
“I have not talked about this yet, but we have a new puppy,” she said.

“Portia and I got a puppy and his name is Kid so now we have a kid. He is absolutely adorable.”
Kid is hardly DeGeneres and de Rossi’s first foray into pet ownership – the couple share a number of cats and dogs on their property in Santa Barbara, California.
Degeneres herself is a well-known animal lover, with her maltese-poodle cross Wolf taking centre stage at her 2008 wedding to longtime partner de Rossi.
However, this new puppy’s name is a tongue-in-cheek stab at the baby rumours that have surrounded the pair for years.
“There have been rumours forever,” Degeneres told her audience.
“‘When are you and Portia gonna have a kid?’ So, now I can say we have a Kid. So it can just stop.”
The host said having a brand new puppy in the house made her appreciate just how hard it is to look after a newborn – human or canine.
‘Kid’ has apparently been waking the couple up at 1am, 3am and 5am.
“And when he’s up, he’s up,” she said.
“I’m trying to hold a puppy while I’m trying to make coffee. And I can’t do anything. He doesn’t let me do anything.”
