Pamela Anderson has revealed she first sought the approval of her sons before agreeing to star on Playboy’s last-ever nude cover.

The magazine’s owner Hugh Hefner announced in October that December would be the last cover of Playboy to feature a nude woman.

Anderson said ‘Hef’ called her up and said there was no one else they’d rather have.

But Anderson told Entertainment Tonight she first asked her sons, 19-year old Brandon and 17-year old Dylan, who she had with ex-husband Tommy Lee.

Anderson said in the past her sons had had a hard time because of their mother’s profession.

“They were teased, and made fun of, and had a few fist fights over their mom,” she said.

But when Anderson took the idea to her eldest, she said he positively encouraged the move.

“He said, ‘We’re older, we’re not embarrassed anymore of you. You know, we think you’re great.'”

“He was so excited,” she added. “He may have high-fived me!”

Anderson said her younger son Dylan was equally supportive of the news.

The actress also revealed she thought she would never pose nude again and didn’t think Playboy would want her.

“I had a rough few years where I felt a little insecure, ’cause you know everyone’s getting older,” she said.

“I thought, ‘My gosh, I miss the Playboy days.’ It was so glamorous.”

The magazine’s chief executive Scott Flanders said the decision to pull nudes from the magazine was a reaction to the proliferation of free online pornography.

“You know, I just kind of miss that whole crowd and us being these little giggling girls kind of running around the mansion half naked and trying to get everybody’s attention, he told the New York Times.

“You’re now one click away from every sex act imaginable for free,” Flanders said.

“And so it’s just passe at this juncture.”
