Actress Jenny McCarthy has criticised Charlie Sheen for keeping his HIV a secret.

McCarthy, who appeared as a guest star on Two and a Half Men between 2007 and 2011, played one of Sheen’s many love interests on the show.

Speaking to US radio station SiriusXM, McCarthy said Sheen’s HIV positive status would have been “valuable information” to have.

“I have sympathy for him because he’s sick and it’s awful, but man he’s going to have to take some major accountability with many people in his life,” she said.

“Being on Two and a Half Men myself, I feel like in playing a love interest, you would think there would be some type of, I don’t want to say criminal issue, but I don’t even know how to feel about that.”

Although McCarthy said she knew HIV could not be contacted through kissing, she was upset she had been forced to sign forms declaring she had cold sores on the set of the show.

“I was like, ‘Wait a second, if I have to be upfront about a herpes, how could you not be upfront about HIV?'”

McCarthy said she was “STD-phobic” and before getting married, had a policy of asking all potential sexual partners to have an HIV test before they had sex.

The actress, whose son Evan has autism, said she would never compromise her own health as she needs to “live forever” for her child.

Charlie Sheen’s manager told People Magazine the star had not yet contacted HIV when he worked with Ms McCarthy.

Sheen revealed he is HIV positive on NBC’s Today show earlier this week.
